Your historical inquiries often reveal profound parallels and hidden figures. How do you approach the task of identifying individuals who might serve as the 'Filipino Malcolm X'—catalysts for change whose stories demand a wider audience?
At first I was looking for the rebel we know as Malcolm X and who was the equivalent. The first person that came to mind as an intellectual rebel was Renato Constantino. You could also look at Jose Rizal as a Malcolm X, and certainly Lapu‑Lapu as a Malcolm X. So I think it depends on which version of Malcolm X you are thinking about.
