The argument against AI is all valid, but I think it's painted with a broad brushstroke rather than being precise. My criticism of the legitimate anti-AI movement is that it doesn't get to the root cause of things. There are multiple ways you can look at it, but I'll discuss one specific topic, which is value. It brings no value to society. I think it depends on how you define value.Is it value based on happiness, entertainment, monetary gain, or societal good? Good can also be debated. For example, AI-generated slop or political propaganda using AI is not good for society. I think everyone can agree on that. But on the other side, the people creating this slop see their value differently—whether it's to make them rich or based on their idea of what society should look like, perhaps grounded in their religious beliefs.Then there's another side to this, where propagandists hire people in developing countries who don't make much money. They are doing detrimental work to society, but at a micro level, they're supporting themselves and their family. So the bigger issue for that specific use case is, what are the conditions that created that poverty—the environment where someone needs to create these videos for someone abroad for a dollar each. So it's a domino effect.
